Johan Östberg is an associate professor in landscape architecture with a specialization in landscape planning (obtained in 2018).

Johan is a trained landscape engineer (graduated in 2008), has a Master of Technology (graduated in 2008), a PhD in Landscape Planning (graduated in 2013), is an ISA Certified Arborist (2018), ISA Certified Arborist Municipal Specialist (2020), VETCert certified at the consultant level (2022), ISA Board Certified Master Arborist (2022), has passed the ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification (TRAQ) course (2016 and 2020) and since 2024 is an instructor for TRAQ training, as well as chairman of the SIS Technical Committee 577 Tree Care. He is, among other things, the main author of Standard for Tree Inventories in Urban Environment 3.0, Economic Valuation of Urban Trees - The Alnarp Model 2.2 and Standard for Protection of Trees in Construction 2.0. Johan is a partner, chairman and vice president of the company Trädkontoret AB and works mainly with project management and assessment of trees.
