Tree Cities of the World
"Tree Cities of the World" is an initiative of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the U.S.-based Arbor Day Foundation. The initiative has been in place since 2020, and its goal is to increase knowledge about trees in cities and facilitate their proper management.
Being named Tree City of the World is a great way to raise the profile of the city's trees and the great work of all those involved in their management.
Services
We can help you achieve the goals required to apply for Tree City of the World status and we can also help with the entire application process. So far, all the cities we have helped have been approved and received the award.
The required objectives are:
- Responsibility for city trees - We help you describe who is responsible for the city's trees according to the structure desired by the FAO.
- Policy - We can develop policies and guidance documents required to apply and inventory your trees and ensure that your tree inventory meets the requirements to apply.
- Inventory - We can help you inventory your tree population, but if you don't have the time or resources, we can also conduct FAO-approved canopy cover measurements instead of inventories.
- Budget - We help you develop the financial documentation needed to meet FAO requirements.
- Celebrations - We have a wide range of ways you can celebrate, the only limit is your imagination!
