How to become the Tree City of the World!

How to make your city a Tree City of the World

Want to highlight your city's tree work and showcase your commitment to a greener future? Tree Cities of the World is a global initiative of the FAO and the Arbor Day Foundation that highlights cities that prioritize trees, green infrastructure and sustainable management. The award is not only a recognition - it also strengthens internal collaboration, provides international visibility and serves as a tool to secure resources.

Step by step towards an international award

During this workshop you will:

  • A review of the five basic criteria to qualify as Tree Cities of the World.

  • Concrete examples of how other municipalities have worked strategically towards the goals.

  • Together, we will review your existing strengths and identify any gaps.

  • Advice on application, documentation and further work.

The workshop is ideal for those who work with management, strategic planning, sustainability issues or want to coordinate internal work on trees and ecosystem services.
